Rocketry 101 with Ms. Fitzpatrick
Students would build, decorate (time permitting) and launch their own model rockets. Students would learn about rockets and how rockets work and then build their own rockets. Finally once the rockets were built we could walk over to the athletic fields at Moakley Park and launch and recover our rockets.
Coding--Star Wars Edition with Mr. Martin
We are going to get into the basics of video game coding and design. You will learn how to teach R2D2 to move across a game platform.
Jump In It: Double Dutch Time and Jump Rope 101 with Ms. John, Ms. Cantave, and Ms. Alert
Double Dutch is a form of jumping rope that involves two ropes and one or more jumpers. While two people rhythmically turn the ropes, jumpers will learn to jump in and hop over them. It's a fun and challenging game that you can learn and enjoy with a few friends.
Benjamin Franklin, Kites, and Electricity with Professor Bob Allison

Will teach kids how to play baseball/wiffle ball and certain techniques that will help you win every time!
Track Stars with Ms. Balaconis
Timed races around the green grass area: 1 lap, 2 laps and team relay races. Fifth Graders will time the younger students (with their phones learning to use the stopwatch app) then record times on white board. Students will learn about the importance of stretching before a race, hydration, breathing properly and pacing. Would like to do this all 5 days of Genius Week to show improvement and personal goal setting.

Ms. Flaherty will teach you the basics to good gardening and how to develop your own "green thumb"!
Ballet for Beginniners with Ms. Murphy
During this session, dancers will learn the five basic foot and arm positions of a ballerina (female) and danseur (male), and learn how to strengthen their body posture for balance. Participants will learn moves such as Jete (jet-ay), Arabesque (ar-uh-besk), and Plie (plee ay). A short video highlighting Misty Copeland's career will also be shared.
Muay Thai Kickboxing with Mr. Chery
Muay Thai: The Art of 8 Limbs. Participants will learn the amazing martial art originating from Thailand. They will learn how to effectively use their fists, elbows, knees and shins in a controlled environment. Participants will also engage in conditioning activities such as jump rope, sit up and pushup like a true Thai fighter.
Paper Airplane Challenge
Students will learn to make a selection of different paper airplane designs and competing to fly them the furthest. Students will experiment with design adjustments to make their airplanes fly the farthest.

A class that will combine breathing exercises, song, and a little dance.
Volleyball 101 with Mr. Rainey
Students learn the basics of volleyball.
Community Skate Boarders will put on a clinic, discuss safety regarding skate boarding.
Polaroid Project (Photography) with Ms. Gisella of Boston Children's Hospital--TAP Program
Students will have a chance to get a portrait photo taken of them displaying a moment they are proud of from this school year where they where exhibiting their outstanding world learner qualities (OWL). They will have a choice to draw a photo and have their polaroid taken with the picture, or can use props to help display their proud OWL moment. Then the students will receive a copy of the photo, and we will put another photo in the photo book. Students will write on the photo book a message/sign their name
Shrinky Dinks with Ms. O'Malley
Shrinky Dinks are a process where kids color an image on Shrinky Dink paper and then it is briefly baked in a toaster oven and the paper shrinks to a hard plastic version of the image.
Hopes & Dreams with Matthew X of Milford Public Schools
Students will identify core "hopes and dreams" Student will research how to develop life goals or wishes Students will create a life tag line or motto Students will write a promo message to themselves Students will be filmed Workshop will will conclude with a website of all messages that the students can look back to and district can use as the students matriculate through the system.
My workshop would include teaching the students to make these simple baby blankets then donate our blankets to the Home For Little Wanderers as a community service project.
